Day 75 - Monday

U.S. History I - Periods 1, 5, and 6: 
Essential Questions:
-What do we want from Government?
-Does our state government or federal government have more of an impact in our lives?
-Does the system of checks and balances provide us with an effective and efficient government? 
-Is a strong federal system the most effective government for the United States? Which level of government, federal or state, can best solve our nation's problems? 

Themes: Federalism, State Rights vs. Federal Government, Liberty vs. Hierarchy, U.S. Constitution, State Rights vs. Federal Rights, Bill or Rights, Checks and Balances, Amendments 11-27

1. Using the The George Washington Packet, please read, highlight, and build a resume on George Washington listing his education, experience, and qualified skills to be the 1st President of the U.S.A.
Additionally, please read Chapter 6 - Section 1 - George Washington Heads the New Government -pages 182-187 and complete the terms and names on PAGE 7 of The George Washington Packet and then the ENTIRE REST OF THE PACKET. The Packet are DUE by Tuesday, December 23rd.

1. Please download The George Washington Packet. Using the The George Washington Packet, please read, highlight, and build a resume on George Washington listing his education, experience, and qualified skills to be the 1st President of the U.S.A.

2. Please read Chapter 6 - Section 1 - George Washington Heads the New Government -pages 182-187 and complete the terms and names on PAGE 7 of The George Washington Packet.

U.S. HISTORY II - Period 4:

Essential Questions:
-Who was Herbert Hoover and how did his leadership affect the American people during the Great Depression?
-How did the Great Depression affect the lives of millions of Americans?
-What affect did the Dust Bowl have on Americans during the Great Depression?
-What was the New Deal and how did it affect the American people during the Great Depression?
-What affect did the Stock Market Crash of 1929 have on the American people during the Great Depression?
-What were the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), The Works Progress Administration (WPA), and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and how did the affect the American people during the Great Depression?
-Who was Franklin Delano Roosevelt and how did his leadership affect the American people during the Great Depression?

1. We will watch Franklin D. Roosevelt's achievements and shortcomings on The Presidents from the History Channel below. As we watch this video segment, please complete the outline/questions #1-10 from Friday's Class Handout.

International Studies - Period 2
Essential Questions:
1. How do we think about POWER in the 21st Century?

2. How should we deal with extremist?
3. Do you think ordinary people can create change or movement for a cause?

Themes: War vs. Peace, Hard Power, Soft Power, Smart Power, The Taliban, Islamic State in Syria (ISIS), Globalization, Global Security

1. Your MAJOR End-of-the-Year Project is Global Security in the 21st Century. Please read, discuss as class, and write down any questions you may have. We will discuss tomorrow and get started in the Library later this week after we watch the movie below.

2. Please pick a topic, fill out the subject sheet, and then create a folder in our class SHARED Folder.
