Day 109 - Thursday

U.S. History I - Periods 2, 5, and 6: 
Essential Question:
-How did the Market Revolution of the 19th Century radically shift commerce (trade) and a way of life for millions of Americans?
-How revolutionary was the Market Revolution in the early 19th Century in American History?
-Why was Industrialization so complex and yet dynamic?

B. Honor's Level will complete their essay today and part of tomorrow on the Lowell Girls DBQ.   Everyone will have 60 minutes ONLY to complete the essay section.

1. PERIOD 5 ONLY  - Please prepare for your MULTIPLE CHOICE section of your TEST for tomorrow!  You will have a multiple choice (50% & DBQ's/Essay 50% TEST) on the Market Revolution, America's First Industrial Revolution, Immigration, and the era of Urbanization from 1790-1850.

2. PERIODS 2 & 6 - Who won the Massachusetts Primary? Who comes out as the winners and losers on Super Tuesday? Watch the news, scour the web or twitter, and find out the answer to the questions above!!

U.S. HISTORY II - Period 1:
Essential Questions:
-Why was it important for Americans to remember D-Day?
-How did D-Day change the course of the war, and potentially the course of history?
-In what ways did the U.S. decision to join WWII impact the European Theater or battle?

Themes:  European Theater, D-Day Invasion, Operation Overload, Normandy, Remembering D-Day

1. We will be reading, reviewing discussing, collaborating and examining viewpoints and main ideas of D-Day (Normandy, France) in group activities today.  Mr. Parkin will sample one first and do it with you all. Here is a diary from Sidney Montz, a lieutenant in 8th Regiment of the U.S. Army's 4th Division, where he fought on Utah and Omaha beaches on June 6, 1944.
Five questions for EVERY group:

Question 1: Who or what is the focus of the source?
Question 2: Why do you think this document was created?
Question 3: What does the document convey about the Invasion of Normandy?
Question 4: What is most important about this source?
Question 5: What questions do you still have?

Please create a STRONG THESIS STATEMENT after completing your Top-Down Web on The Pacific Theater!!

International Studies - Period 7
Essential Questions:
1. Does NATO have a new role in the order of international relations in Europe and the World in the    21st Century?

-An impressive viewing of MANY UN Peacekeeping videos - Nearly 5 hours worth of short clips from many Peacekeeping Operations.
Homework:
1. The NATO or Peacekeeping Mission Project should be used as a checklist to help guide you using the first 4 pages. You MUST CREATE A GOOGLE FOLDER (with your Mission's Name and your Name as the titled).
-PLEASE ensure you have used a NATO/UN Peacekeeping Mission from 1992 to current day. The sign-up sheet here on the Google Document so I know exactly what mission you have chosen.

2. You MUST have the following in your Google Folder:
-You must have a basic outline in your Google Folder
A works cited page that is ongoing and will be finalized up to Chicago-Style Format standards
-Your final project (with a final link so that we can click on it and it will take us to your project (Prezi, Google Slides, You tube channels, and Digital Stories all have links!!!)

3. Your working outline should include the items below:
-Who is involved in your mission?
-How long have they been there?
-Why Peacekeepers or NATO troops are there?
-A DEBATABLE/CONTROVERSIAL thesis statement!
-Where and what did the situation look like that caused peacekeepers or NATO troops to be engaged in the situation?
-What does the current situation look like? In other words, how effective was the Peacekeeper or NATO situation?
-What challenges did/do Peacekeepers or NATO troops face?
