Day 4 - TGIF...Week One is OVER and only 38 more weeks to go :)


U.S. History II  - Period 1: 
Essential Questions:

-What is thinking?
-How will you succeed in my class?

Themes: Individualism, Diversity, PEGS (Political, Economic, Geographic, Social)

1. We need to finish the Quote Activity in groups of 5, everyone will discuss their quotes individually and their reasons for picking the quote, style, and theme behind it. Then the whole group will PICK ONE to represent the group. Why was it the best representation? What factors did you include for 'liking it'? Was the group unanimous or was there a close decision? 20 minutes. Please print up and complete the Quote Activity for tomorrow's class period.

2. One question historians face all the time is who to believe? What makes one account more trustworthy than another?  We are going to evaluate different situations in history and your school setting to gain a better understanding of thinking like an historian. The sources we will be using are Lunchroom Fight Activity and Historical Scenarios & Evaluating Sources Activity will be completed today.

Homework:
1. You should have download "Snapshot Autobiography Project: Directions" and complete Part I: yesterday, tonight you will be asked to complete Part II - Homework: Snapshot Biography (Page 3 of the google document)- Another perspective, which asks you to interview someone else who remembers one of the important events that happened in your life.  The point being is that we want to examine THEIR PERSPECTIVE.  So please follow the directions and fill out the questions/prompts as you interview someone in your life.

2. Monday after school in Mr. Parkin's Room 2:00-3:00PM- EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY!!!

International Studies - Period 4

1. What does international studies mean?

2. How will you succeed in my class?

2. What do you all want to study? What events intrigue you and fuel a passion or desire to think like an historian?

Homework:
1. Please download and read "What is History?" After reading this poster on history, what do you know about International Studies? What is International Studies? What is America's relationship with other countries in 2013?  Please answer the above questions on a Google Drive doc in an essay format and share with me using your Name and "What is International Studies?" I am NOT looking for an internet definition, but your version.  So if you use any information from the web then you MUST cite your sources and give credit where credit is due on a Bibliography Page please. Due Date is MONDAY.
