Day 2 - Glad you Survived Day 1 ?!?!

U.S. History II  - Period 1:
Essential Questions:

-What is thinking?
-How will you succeed in my class?

Themes: Individualism, Diversity, PEGS (Political, Economic, Geographic, Social)

1. Remember to visit my blog daily for the assignments and homework.

2. Please review my U.S. History II - 1900 - 2014 -  Expectations and Syllabi - are there any questions? Did you get them signed? I will collect them if you did sign them.

3. Please print up and complete the Quote Activity for tomorrow's class period.

One of my favorite quotes from this summer was on keeping an open mind and being ready for anything..."In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, in the expert's mind there are few."
-- Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki

My advice for your quotes is to go find a meaningful quote. Don't just google any quote, find one that hits your core values and what you stand for; one you truly believe in. Remember be artistic and courageous with these and put them on poster paper/construction paper that is big enough for us to see in class.  We are going to hang these up tomorrow in class. There will be prizes given out for most artistic and best quote. Be prepared to share your quote with your classmates.

4. Why are you here? Does education really matter? Increase your earning potential = Higher Education. We will discuss the value of education.

Homework:
1. Some classes completed the Quote Activity, for those of you who got it assigned today then please complete for tomorrow's class period.

2. You should have your U.S. History II - 1900 - 2014 -  Expectations and Syllabi signed by you and your parents on the last page.

3. Make a name tag for the first few weeks of school so that I can make a habit of calling your name and it will help me learn your names a little bit faster.
