Day 99 - Wednesday

U.S. History I - Periods 2, 5, and 6: 
Essential Question:
-Was the Monroe Doctrine a policy of expansion or self-defense? 
-Was the Monroe Doctrine a disguise for American Imperialism?
-Was John Quincy Adams deserving of his presidency?

1. We will put together our BIG PAPER collage of the 2016 Presidential Candidates using your clear color visuals, glue sticks, string and popsicle sticks from last night's homework assignment.  We need these items in order to complete our Big Paper Rollout on following the 2016 election.

2. Please make sure you have your mini-resumes done from page 2 of the Themes from 1820-1860 Packet on the presidencies of James Monroe and John Quincy Adams. Please use Themes from 1820-1860 Packet pages 3, 4, and 5 Questions on James Monroe and John Quincy Adams (22 questions in total) to complete all of these questions INDIVIDUALLY while watching the video below. ***If the videos do not work, then click on the links under the names below. We will review and complete page 1 and the video questions on Monday.

U.S. HISTORY II - Period 1:
Essential Questions:

-Should the United States have aided the Allies against the Axis Powers?
-Does the American security depend upon the survival of its Allies?
-Was war between the United States and Japan inevitable in World War II?
-How did the United States respond to the attack at Pearl Harbor?

Themes:  America's involvement in WWII 1939-December 7th 1941, Lend-Lease Act, Pearl Harbor Attack.

1. We will finish the group jigsaw activity today.  However, please try to download America in World War II Slideshare off the website, and you will see this will support you on understanding the themes, events, and people you reviewed yesterday as well.  You will need to be able to write on it and add notes to make connections if it downloads properly, if not then create outline notes based off the slides in your notebook.

2. Once downloaded, please review slides #1-55 on America in World War II Slideshare.  Take any notes, make observations, and ask any questions you wish - WE will discuss on Monday, but the POINT IS THAT YOU ARE LEARNING who, what, and how the war has progressed in the early stages from September 1, 1939 to December 7, 1941 and realize how America cannot avoid this war!!!

3. Please watch the Pearl Harbor documentary in color (You should get AT LEAST the first 25 minute done) Then write a reaction to the following questions in the form of an 1 paragraph essay (10 sentences minimum and post in Google Classroom so that everyone can see your response - SO PROOFREAD IT PLEASE!): 

A. What is the most shocking thing you saw on this documentary?  
B. Who do you think is most responsible for what went wrong in the Pearl Harbor attacks?

A. What is the most shocking thing you saw on this documentary?  
B. Who do you think is most responsible for what went wrong in the Pearl Harbor attacks?

2. Please study for your World War II Quiz tomorrow - Chapter 24 (all of it) and Chapter 25 (section 1) You may use a 3x5 notecard (one side).

1. We will continue to examine the United Nations using the UN Website and a UN slideshow today.

2. For today's class, please watch the Human Rights video and then make sure you can answer "What are Human Rights and how are they coded?" and "When in history have Human Rights been threatened or violated?"



3. Then please WATCH this second awesome video on the 30 Articles of Human Rights under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and answer the question "How do Human Rights build more equitable and good in a global society?"
