U.S. History I - Periods 2, 5, and 6: 
Essential Questions:

-How will you succeed in my class?

Themes: Historical thinking methods, evaluating sources, Thinking like an historian, PEGS (Political, Economic, Geographic, Social)

2. Quote Activity - Tell us 3 things about yourself that we will not know! OR Do you have 3 things from your culture/family life/your life that you brought from home that we did not get to yesterday.

1. Write your name, year, and Mr. Parkin's Name/Room # in your Textbook and fill out the textbook forms please.

2. Evaluating Sources - Please read the following scenarios and then write your response and justification as to which source you trust more and why?

Essential Questions:
1. What does international studies mean?

2. How will you succeed in my class?

Themes: PEGS (Political, Economic, Geographic, Social)

1. Partners from yesterday's Database Study/Topic Review on current global issues need to finish; Phil and Evan, and Kevin and Nevin.

2. Quote Activity - Tell us 3 things about yourself that we will not know! OR Do you have 3 things from your culture/family life/your life that you brought from home that we did not get to yesterday.

3. Commonalities with your list of Current Topics you want to learn about!  Let's discuss and share.

4. Please complete some basic research on the United Nations and Peace Day:
A. What is the United Nations?
B. What is the mission of the United Nations?
C. What is Peace Day? When is Peace Day? What typically happens on Peace Day?
D. Is global peace, even for just one day, possible? Your opinion/argument is valid, but make sure you can justify it."Peace Day." What is it? What is happening in 2015 to support this global movement?  Due by TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th, 2015.

5. Most likely will start this tomorrow - What is Peace Day? We will begin watching Jeremy Gilley's journey, but please complete this Day After Peace Test while you watch the video.



Homework:
1. DUE THURSDAY = Last chance to get your International Studies - Expectations and Syllabi sheet signed by your parents or guardians on the last page

2. Go off an explore the following International Studies links and give me your evaluation on which one you liked the best and why?  What characteristics on International Issues did you like about these particular websites?  Convince me as to which one of these would be the best resource to learn about Global Issues.
