U.S. History I - Periods 1, 5, and 6: 

Essential Questions:
-How did the French and Indian War help inspired a sense of unity and shared identity among the colonist?
-Did Great Britain lose more than it gained from its victory in the French-Indian War?
-Were the colonist justified in resisting British policies after the French-Indian War?

 Themes: Self-government, Individualism, Equality/Liberty vs. Hierarchy/Order, Opportunity vs. Control

1. Please complete the Outline on the French-Indian War using the rest of the French and Indian War Slideshow and pages 85-89...your focus should be on The Proclamation Line of 1763 and George Greenville's new Colonial Policies towards the "Colonists." If you have already completed then move on to the next assignments.

A. Explain the advantages to the United States of having a canal that connected both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans under US control and the reasons the US was in a far better position to than any other country to build it?

B. Be prepared to debate the issue, "Did the US steal the Panama Canal from Columbia or merely behaved rationally in its own best interest?" One's will be Colombians and Two's will be American Patriots.

Remember this will be a project grade based on your contributions to organizing Peace Day activities at Burlington High School.  You should see yourselves as Peace Day Ambassadors that advocate "Who will you make Peace with on Peace Day?  Contribute and implement a plan in our brain-storming session!!!

2. Monday all proof of what you did will be presented to the entire class and Mr. Parkin.  You can put this in a presentation app or program to share pictures, videos, or any other evidence of your contributions. Day 13 - Let's hope not so unlucky!!

1. A couple class will finish English settlement in Virginia (Jamestown Slideshow) in the first few minutes of class. I would recommend that you take notes on it using page 1 handout titled An English Settlement at Jamestown or have a pretty good idea about these concepts.
