AND a second question both teams decided on the Debate Page. ON TUESDAY we will be debating AND it will count as a TEST GRADE!

1. REMEMBER the key to this debate is EVIDENCE, ANALYSIS, and IMPACT on the team you represent. So please PREPARE FOR BOTH DEBATE QUESTIONS for the Mexican-American Debate for TUESDAY (TOMORROW).
A. Prepare to contribute, manage, and provide support for your team's major arguments looking at EVIDENCE, ANALYSIS, AND IMPACT of this war.
-Fill in your name on the mini-team you will represent under Team Mexico or Team America
2. Don't forget the documents on James K. Polk's speech to Congress and Congressmen's Joshua Giddings debate to the House of Representatives. You design a graphic organizer to help manage the pros and cons of this speech and debate.
3. Use the PBS Special on the Mexican-American War and use the table of contents on the left hand toolbar to help navigate through the website. I would strongly suggest that you use the perspective of your team (Team Mexico or Team America) to start formulating arguments that would support your reason to support the war or the opposition to the Mexican-American War. The key to this debate is to find the arguments that support your team and then use them to logically beat the other team. So focus on your team's strength and then try to attack the other side's weaknesses.
4. Today is your final day to organize and plan your team's arguments, while utilizing the primary sources that will be used to help build evidence to support this debate. Each team (Mexico or America) will be divided up into 2 smaller teams (Mexico Team A, Mexico Team B, versus America Team A, America and America Team B) and PLEASE FOLLOW THE DEBATE FORMAT. The team with the stronger arguments, debate presence, and support will win. Your rubric will be posted in the Google Folder for your class period. I have shared them all with you via Google Drive.

Timeline of the Cold War
1. Please complete the assignments that are posted on Google Classroom - Please review slides #15-19 on the topics of the Cold War Spreading East to China and Korea using the Cold War Slideshow #1 1945-1960. Then use your textbook Chapter 26 - Section 2 "The Cold War Heats Up" on pages 815-821 to explore the major concepts & events surrounding the China's Communist Regime and the USA's entry into the Korean War. Please create a Top-Down Web that illustrates at least 3 MAJOR THEMES. Remember to color code your Top-Down Web, and make your shapes large enough so that you can write in them/type in them. These are notes, so you do not need complete sentences, but you need to have a coherent outline that does not just display a few words either.
